The River City Sound Chorus strives for excellence and encourages personal growth, creative expression, friendship, and fun. We sing four-part harmony in barbershop style. We have received a number of awards, some of which are listed toward the bottom of this page.

We also provide entertainment for community and private events, and we present an annual fall show with featured quartets and a variety of music to satisfy all musical appetites.

We welcome new members. Any woman over the age of 18 who enjoys singing is invited to attend our weekly rehearsals to find out more about us.

We are proud members of Sweet Adelines International. Our chorus belongs to Region 22 in the Sweet Adelines Organization.

River City Sound awards:

• In April 2011, River City Sound was again named the Region 22 Champion Chorus. This honor will entitle us to compete in the 2012 Sweet Adelines International Competition in Denver, Colorado, October 30-November 3, 2012.

• River City Sound was the 2009 Region 22 Champion Chorus. As a regional champion, we were entitled to compete in the Sweet Adelines International Competition in October 2010 in Seattle Washington, where we finished 28th out of 33 choruses.

• At the Sweet Adelines International Harmony Classic Competition for Small Choruses, River City Sound won the following honors:
  • 3rd in the world in 2004
  • 4th in the world in 2002
  • 3rd in the world in 2001

• River City Sound won a RAMI (Rockford Area Music Industry) Award in 2003.
