Since the early 1950’s, Sweet Adeline choruses have been performing women’s barbershop harmony in the Rockford area.

The award winning River City Sound placed 3rd in the world in 2001, 4th in the world in 2002, and 3rd in the world in 2004 at the Sweet Adeline International Harmony Classic Competition..

River City Sound won a RAMI (Rockford Area Music Industry) Award in 2003.

The purpose of our organization is to train women in the art of four part harmony in barbershop style.

Our local chapter also provides entertainment for community and private events, presents an annual show with featured quartets and a variety of music to satisfy all musical appetites.

River City Sound is proud to have earned top medals at our regional competitions.

We welcome new members and any woman over the age of 18, who enjoys singing, is invited to attend our weekly rehearsals.

Our chorus strives for excellence, and encourages personal growth, creative expression, friendship and fun.
